* Some songs in this game have a scroll speed multiplier applied to them by default when playing certain charts.
** In other words, on such charts, the in-game BPM is higher than the displayed BPM, and thus the chart scrolls faster than the displayed BPM would imply.

  • The second of two beatmania compilation mixes released, this time including most songs from beatmania 4thMIX -the beat goes on- and beatmania 5thMIX -Time to get down-, along with a handful of songs from older titles.
    • Several ANOTHER charts were added for old songs, along with some ANOTHER-exclusive remixes. Most of the new ANOTHER remixes are simply the original songs with rearranged keysounds; none of the remixes of this type have appeared on any original soundtracks.
    • hard version Charts from some beatmania 5thMIX songs were put as the ANOTHER charts for those songs.
  • CENTER PLAY is introduced, which lets the player to use the 2P keys and the 1P turntable.
  • HI-SPEED now allows you to have 2x, 3x, or 4x the scrolling speed.
  • You can now switch difficulties by pressing both black keys rather than a game-specific code. This method of changing difficulties was used for every future game in the series.
  • Difficulty levels are now on a scale of 1 to 9, which remained the standard for the rest of the series.
    • ANOTHER charts are now individually rated as well.
  • The U.S. release was known as hiphopmania completeMIX 2, and has a few differences compared to the Japanese release.
    • By default, all modes use the EXPERT gauge. The normal gauge functionality can be re-enabled with a DIP switch setting.
    • A new feature, PERFECT PLAY, has been added to EXPERT mode. When enabled, getting anything lower than a GOOD will result in an immediate game over.
    • All licensed songs from beatmania 5thMIX have been removed.

Songs With Default Scroll Speed Multipliers

  • Some songs in this game have a scroll speed multiplier applied to them by default when playing certain charts.
    • In other words, on such charts, the in-game BPM is higher than the displayed BPM, and thus the chart scrolls faster than the displayed BPM would imply.
    • When a HI-SPEED option is used on such a chart, that HI-SPEED's multiplier will stack (multiply) with that chart's default scroll speed multiplier.

Codes & Unlock Information

Unlock ALL MUSIC Option, Secret EXPERT Courses, Song Sort Selection on Song Select Screen

  • To unlock the ALL MUSIC option, secret EXPERT courses (NAGUREO REMIX; HARD ANOTHER REMIX), and song sort selection on the song select screen, follow the steps below on the title screen while it says to press either START button.
    • Press key 6 nine times, key 8 eight times, and key 10 eight times (the left/middle/right white buttons on the 2P side, respectively).
  • The title screen will flash white.
    • The unlocked state will remain active until either the TEST MENU is entered, or the machine is powered off.

Select Options

  • To select options, do so via either of the methods below.
  • Available options will differ according to the method used, and whether Event Mode is enabled.
Title Screen
  • While the screen says to press either START button, press the EFFECT button, then press the corresponding key button(s) shown on screen, or rotate the turntable.
    • Available options: BATTLE/1P-CENTER; MIRROR/RANDOM; DOUBLE/BMII-DOUBLE; HI-SPEED 1/2/3; HIDDEN/SUDDEN/HIDDEN+SUDDEN; ALL MUSIC (when unlocked)
  • This method is not available while Event Mode is enabled.
Song Select Screen
  • First, press the EFFECT button six times to unlock the options menu.
  • Next, press and hold the EFFECT button, then press the following key button(s) for each option.
    • 1/3/5 or 6/8/10 (any white key button): HIDDEN/SUDDEN/HIDDEN+SUDDEN
    • 2 or 7 (left black key button on an active side): MIRROR/RANDOM
    • 4 or 9 (right black key button on an active side) HI-SPEED 1/2/3
  • This method is available even while Event Mode is enabled.

Select Song Sort

  • As a prerequisite, the ALL MUSIC option must be set to ON on the title screen.
    • However, this is not required if Event Mode has been enabled.
  • To select the song sort on the song select screen, press and hold the EFFECT button, then press either START button.
    • Default: Difficulty
    • One: Song Name
    • Two: (Return to Default)

Select ANOTHER Difficulty Charts

  • To change between HARD/ANOTHER difficulty charts on the song select screen in HARD mode (does not work in BASIC mode), press 2+4 or 7+9 (both black key buttons on an active play side).
    • Default: HARD
      • Note that if EFFECT is held when selecting HARD mode on the MODE SELECT screen, ANOTHER will be the default difficulty instead.
    • One: ANOTHER
    • Two: (Return to Default)

Event Mode

Selecting Options, Song Sort, and Mode During Event Mode
  • When Event Mode is enabled, there are several differences in making selections, which are as follows.
    • The options menu cannot be shown on the title screen, preventing selection of options from there.
    • The MODE SELECT menu is skipped, preventing selection of game mode.
    • Song selection is performed with the START button(s), instead of a white or black key button (1/2/3/4/5 or 6/7/8/9/10).
    • To make each selection, follow the procedures below on the song select screen.
  • Select Options
    • First, press the EFFECT button six times to unlock the options menu.
    • Next, press and hold the EFFECT button, then press the following key button(s) for each option.
      • 1/3/5 or 6/8/10 (any white key button): HIDDEN/SUDDEN/HIDDEN+SUDDEN
        • Possibly due to a bug, HIDDEN and HIDDEN+SUDDEN do not activate properly even when selected in Event Mode; HIDDEN will not activate at all, while HIDDEN+SUDDEN will only activate SUDDEN.
      • 2 or 7 (left black key button on an active side): MIRROR/RANDOM
      • 4 or 9 (right black key button on an active side) HI-SPEED 1/2/3
      • There is no known way to select the 1P-CENTER or BMII-DOUBLE option while Event Mode is enabled.
  • Select Song Sort
    • Press and hold the EFFECT button, then press either START button.
      • Default: Difficulty
      • One: Song Name
      • Two: (Return to Default)
  • Select Mode
    • Press the following button(s).
      • 1P START: SINGLE
      • 2P START: DOUBLE
      • 1P+2P START: BATTLE
        • Two-player non-BATTLE mode (DOUBLE chart with two lifebars) cannot be specifically selected while in Event Mode.
          • However, if a chart says that BATTLE cannot be played and BATTLE is selected anyway, it will play two-player non-BATTLE mode (DOUBLE chart with two lifebars).
